MLK Vs. Thoreau

Martin Luther King says that it was his obligation to influence brotherhood and justice wherever needed. Thoreau says that he is obligated to abide by his morals and conscience in more of a personal sense. I say that the two differ based on reactions to injustice. Thoreau wanted changes made for private advantage. He wanted to be allowed to make decisions that pertain to him and what he individually felt was right concerning public matters. I say that King was more concerned about overall justice as is pertained to prejudicism and racism. King felt ordered to spread righteousness to where it was practiced the least. I say that for King it was more of a public justice movement rather than seeking changes just for himself.

Civil Disobedience & The Mexican War

Henry Thoreau says that " The government is best which governs least." Just as well as Lao Tzu, Thoreau believes in minimal governing. He says that " The only obligation which I have the right to assume is to do at any time what I think right" in which he believes that the personal conscience should be respected. He says that forcing people ignore their own moral thoughts and treating them as disposable entities always calls to unjust outcomes. He says that "Under a government which imprisons any unjustly , the true place for a just man is also prison." He believes that if acting by personal moral calls for negative consequence you are forced in complying against your conscience or you will risk freedom. I think current governing is similar but in many ways have improved. The war between the United States and Mexico in dispute over where the borders of Texas were or should be. President James K. Polk ordered troops led by Gen. Zachary Taylor to oc

Rousseau & Rebellion

Rousseau says that the people should have only what they need and can take car of. He believes that if all available resources were scaled evenly that the people governed would become more united instead of living in comparison to one another. He says that the rulers should not oblige the people to adopt another's belief with condemnation. He says that by right the people are equals and getting rid of man-made social systems would allow people to adopt legitimate morals. I say that I believe we are indeed equal by right and that our current social system allows judgement on others for not complying with certain ideals or ways of life. I say that if any Rousseau would agree more in having a democracy system as he believes that people should be able to follow their own beliefs but in goal of the greater good of the whole by majority ruling. Machiavelli was only concerned about keeping power by means of manipulating the people and corruption which caused the rebellion agains

Lao Tzu Vs. Machiavelli

Lao Tzu says the government should provide the people with their necessities and eliminate factors that cause imbalance. He says that by the power of state being minimized it gives the people the opportunity ton make better choices on their own. Tzu believed that repression causes the people to be dejected and deceitful. He says that governing should be based on simplicity, patience, and compassion. Machiavelli says that the duty of governing is to bring honor to the people and to defend the state against threats inside and outside. Machiavelli felt that a good leader should be feared and unapproachable. He says that cruelty keeps the people loyal and united. He says that governing should be accord to how things are and not how they should be. Machiavelli's strategies are directed to keep and build power mostly based on psychological manipulation. I say that Lao Tzu's strategies are altruistic. He believed in a state of wholeness and balance by peaceful measures. I say tha
